Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a Procurement Lead to research, negotiate, and manage major contracts and procurements for defense contracting. The ideal candidate will apply advanced consulting and technical expertise to develop innovative solutions for complex procurement challenges. The role also includes mentoring and supervising team members, as well as ensuring all work is compliant with federal regulations. Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Research and negotiate large-scale contracts for hardware, software, and services in support of DoD government Prime Contracts
- Apply expertise to evaluate requirements, including FAR and DFARS flow-downs, performance work statements, and other special requirements
- Establish CPSR-compliant procurement files for contracts exceeding $250,000, including small business subcontracting plans and adherence to cost accounting standards
- Negotiate terms and conditions for procurement awards, identifying and mitigating risks based on the nature and value of the purchase order
- Review software license agreements to ensure compliance with federal regulations such as GSAM or GSAR
- Evaluate statements of work, bills of materials, and source justifications to ensure completeness and compliance
- Educate stakeholders on contract requirements and procurement processes
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in procurement for defense contracting
- Experience with hardware and software procurement in support of DoD Prime Contracts, including FAR and DFARS requirements
- Proven ability to establish CPSR-compliant procurement files for contracts exceeding $250,000
- Expertise in evaluating and negotiating terms and conditions to mitigate procurement risks
- Experience with federal software license agreements and relevant regulations (GSAM or GSAR)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload based on demand
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, consultative, and problem-solving skills
Education/Certification Requirements
- A HS diploma or GED is required
