Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Administrator to manage and maintain all corporate IT assets, including on-premises infrastructure, virtualized environments, cloud services, networking systems, and production environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in virtualization (VMware, Nutanix), cloud environment (Azure), networking equipment (firewalls, routers, and switches), web application troubleshooting, and production system support. Exceptional organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to ensure the security, performance, and scalability of IT systems are critical for success in this role. Please note that after-hours support may occasionally be required for production systems to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- IT Asset Management:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all corporate IT assets, including hardware, software, licenses, and networking equipment
- Implement and manage systems for asset tracking, auditing, and lifecycle management
- Virtualization Administration:
- Configure, manage, and maintain virtualized environments, particularly VMware and Hyper-V
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of virtual servers and applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within virtualization infrastructure
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning
- Cloud Administration:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud environments, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure
- Administer Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Azure AD, Networking, and Storage solutions
- Optimize cloud resource utilization for cost efficiency and scalability
- Ensure cloud environments meet corporate security and compliance standards
- Networking Administration:
- Configure, monitor, and maintain networking equipment, including firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), routers, and switches
- Design and manage secure network architectures, including VPNs and VLANs
- Troubleshoot and resolve network performance and connectivity issues
- Implement and monitor network security protocols and tools
- Web Application Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to web applications hosted on cloud or on-premises infrastructure
- Work with development teams to identify and address server and application performance bottlenecks
- Configure and manage web servers (e.g., IIS, Apache, Nginx) and load balancers
- Ensure web applications are secure, scalable, and meet uptime requirements
- System Administration:
- Administer IT systems, including file servers, email systems, storage, and backup solutions
- Implement access controls, system hardening, and monitoring tools
- Conduct regular system updates, patch management, and performance checks
- Production Support:
- Monitor and support production systems to ensure high availability and minimal downtime
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical issues in production environments
- Provide after-hours support when required for urgent production system needs
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement and maintain security policies for systems, virtualization, cloud environments, and networking
- Perform regular audits and risk assessments of IT infrastructure
- Manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools to safeguard corporate assets
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work with cross-functional teams to address IT infrastructure needs
- Provide advanced technical support for escalated IT and web application issues
- Document procedures and mentor junior IT staff
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator
- Extensive experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure, including Virtual Machines, Azure AD, and cloud networking
- Hands-on experience managing networking equipment, including firewalls, routers, and switches
- Strong experience troubleshooting and optimizing web applications and related services
- Knowledge of web server administration (e.g., IIS, Apache, Nginx)
- Familiarity with IT asset management tools and best practices
- Experience supporting production environments with minimal downtime
- Strong understanding of system security, patch management, and backup/recovery strategies
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to multitask
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proactive and able to work independently while contributing to team goals
- Willingness to provide after-hours support for production environments when needed
