Responsibilities
Our client is looking for a Database Administrator to join their team! As a Database Administrator you will work on a team to help the customer overcome their most difficult challenges in database management.
- Gather internal and external customer database requirements, data, and diagrams for analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of database change requests
- Review, recommend and update baseline schemas and provide infrastructure recommendations for enhancement
- Employ expertise in the development and sustainment of databases, dashboards, and performance/data trend analysis
- Use customer service expertise to help manage customer expectations, requirements, team tasks, and organize large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an enterprise database solution
- Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
- Provide on-the-job training to application POCs and database users
- Standard support hours are between 7 am – 9 pm EST and may include on-call support during weekends, holidays, or off-hours if/as required
Requirements
- A Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, other Engineering or Technical Discipline is required, OR 15 years of related professional experience in lieu of degree
- 5+ years of experience in system and database administration and tuning using PostgreSQL, Oracle (19c and above), MongoDB, and/or support in an enterprise environment
- 2+ years of experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and/or Mongo Ops
- Experience in architecting MongoDB for efficiency and future growth
- Experience with AWS EC2 instances for db hosting including start/stop and scaling
- 3+ years of experience with AWS GovCloud, specifically AWS RDS Oracle implementations and multi-region data architectures
- Experience with:
- Linux and Windows OS
- Shell and Python Scripts
- Recommending baseline thresholds, database monitoring, and database/infrastructure recommendations
- Experience gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise database solution
- Experience creating technical documentation and working as part of an Agile team and participating in Agile ceremonies
Preferred Requirements
- Experience working with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Previous experience working with the VA is a plus
- Experience with ServiceNow Visual Task Boards
- Ability to work with customers and manage schedules
- Ability provide excellent verbal communication skills to effectively communicate technical information and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Education/Certification Requirements
- A Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering or Technical Discipline is required, OR 15 years of related professional experience in lieu of a degree
Preferred Requirements
- Industry recognized certifications are helpful but not required
Clearance Requirements
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Must be able to obtain a US Government Public Trust Clearance.
