Responsibilities
Our client is looking for a Senior Active Directory Engineer to join their team! This role focuses on planning, building, and maintaining a secure, scalable, and resilient Active Directory infrastructure within a large, globally accessed hybrid cloud system. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in enterprise-level AD environments and a passion for automation, identity lifecycle management, and security best practices. This position is located in Springfield, VA and supports a mission-critical intelligence customer.
Manage the lifecycle and uptime of enterprise Active Directory forests, domains, and Domain Controllers
Design and implement secure and scalable Active Directory solutions aligned with security standards and industry best practices
Troubleshoot AD-related issues including authentication, role-based access, DNS, and DHCP
Facilitate and manage Group Policy Objects (GPO) and resolve related issues
Identify and resolve domain controller replication interruptions
Provide technical escalation support and ensure the proactive health of the environment
Administer Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems and certificate management
Support AD integration with Windows and non-Windows systems
Lead system design, integration, and automation initiatives for identity and directory services
Requirements
5+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Progressive experience from AD Administrator to Senior Engineer
In-depth understanding of Active Directory and LDAP authentication
Proficient in at least one scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Perl
Experience with enterprise directory synchronization tools such as Azure AD Connect or Cisco Directory Sync
Education/Certification Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience migrating users and objects across AD environments
Knowledge of custom Active Directory schema attributes
Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and single sign-on configuration
Experience in high-tempo government agency IT environments
Proficiency in troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server roles and features
