Responsibilities

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) on our team, you will play a critical part in ensuring our systems and services’ reliability, scalability, and performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, cloud infrastructure, and security, to deliver resilient, observable, and compliant solutions in AWS GovCloud and commercial cloud environments.
This role requires applying consultative and technical expertise to support cloud initiatives with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), contributing to secure, mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, enabling precise and effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including federal clients, internal teams, and external partners. The ability to articulate complex technical concepts, drive decisions, and coordinate across teams is essential to success in this role.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in site reliability engineering or Dev Ops and 10+ years' experience in engineering.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with the following:
    Hands-on: monitoring or observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Kibana, Elasticsearch, CloudWatch, and/or PagerDuty.
    CI/CD pipeline development and sustainment using tools such as Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, and/or Docker.
  • Strong Dynatrace and strong CI/CD experience is a must.
  • Containerization and orchestration using Amazon EKS.
  • Hands-on: cloud platforms, including AWS and/or Azure.
  • Performing operational and day-to-day administrative support functions, including troubleshooting issues and supporting change and problem management processes.
  • Knowledge of system performance, scalability, and reliability engineering best practices.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

 

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics OR 18 years of experience in engineering

 

Clearance Requirements

  • Public Trust (or ability to obtain)
